But for many of the guests who come to Loaves & Fishes of the Fox Valley, the holiday season can be a reminder of loneliness, loss, or the uncertainty that comes with homelessness and housing instability.

That is why our holiday-themed meals are so important.

Although Loaves & Fishes is closed on major holidays, we bring the spirit of those celebrations to our guests throughout the year. From Valentine's Day and Easter to Thanksgiving and Christmas, our dining room is transformed with seasonal decorations and special menus that create a warm, festive atmosphere.

These celebrations are about much more than food.

For many guests, the opportunity to sit down in a beautifully decorated dining room, enjoy a special meal, and share conversation with others provides something they may be missing elsewhere: a sense of belonging. Our volunteers and staff help create an environment where guests feel welcomed, valued, and remembered.

The dining room itself reflects the changing seasons year-round, helping create a space that feels more like home. Guests often comment on the decorations, look forward to upcoming themes, and appreciate the care that goes into making each season feel special.

For some, these holiday-themed meals may be the closest thing they have to a holiday gathering. They offer a chance to celebrate, connect with others, and experience the traditions that bring comfort and joy.
